The Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has said that he will not attend the swearing in of Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday as Ekiti State governor for fear of being attacked.

He said some politicians, even when not sent by Fayemi, might catch in on the situation and harass him.

He added that he would also be at the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, where he had promised to submit himself for probe over alleged financial scam.

He said he had no personal problem with Fayemi and that he had been co-operating with the committee set up on the transition process.

Fayose, who spoke at a press conference on Thursday said: “If I should attend the programme, some politicians might use the chance to harass me, even when they are not sent by Fayemi.

“This will further destroy (our) relationship. Issues between me and Fayemi are not personal. I have been cooperating with the committee set up by Fayemi on this transition.

“Again, I have to be in EFCC office in Abuja on Tuesday. But, let me say clearly that I am ready to appear before any panel set up by incoming government to probe my administration.”
