The bid to effect the re-arrest of the suspected serial killer in Ibadan, Oyo State, Sunday Shodipo, has got a boost with the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, deploying crack detectives from the Intelligence Response Team and the Special Tactical Squad of the Force Intelligence Bureau, Abuja.

The detectives are to complement the efforts of the Oyo State Police Command on the case.

The latest development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba.

Mba said the detectives would bring to bear their vast operational, technical and investigative experience to ensure the re-arrest of Shodipo and others that might be connected.

While condemning the escape of Shodipe from police custody, the Inspector General of Police ordered the speedy investigation of the circumstances that surrounded the escape of the suspect.

“All persons indicted in the escape are to be identified and made to face the wrath of the law.

“The CP has equally been mandated to immediately assess and rejig the security architecture in the state so as to prevent any future occurrence of untoward incidents,” the statement reads in part.

The police boss enjoined the people of the state to remain calm and assist the police force with necessary information that would lead to the re-arrest of the suspected serial killer.
