Former president, Muhammadu Buhari, would not have won the 2015 presidential election without the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, made the declaration on Thursday during an interview session on Arise Television.
Onanuga spoke in reaction to the assertion by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, that without Tinubu and APC, Buhari would have won the 2015 election.
Recall that the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN; Congress of Progressive Change, CPC, and the All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP, formed the coalition known as APC, the platform under which Buhari contested.
Mustapha said the merger only gave additional three million to support Buhari’s victory.

But faulting Mustapha’s claim, Onanuga said the coalition helped Buhari in the South where he had no spread.
He said the former president also knew that and was grateful for the contribution.
His words: “It was clear to ACN, a very strategic arm of that alliance, that without additional support, there was no way Buhari could have won the election.
“Yeah, he was getting 12 million votes if you put all the 19 states together, but in the south, Buhari was nowhere. Buhari needed the spread. ACN had six.
“Buhari got the votes he needed in those six states. They may not be in millions, but they were important votes.
“He won in all those six states, and he got more than 25 per cent. At the end of the day, he won in about 25 states, more than the constitutional requirement of 24 states.”
