The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has directed that sting operations at night time be stopped in all the commands of the commission.
He gave the directive in Abuja on Wednesday in reaction to the arrest of 69 suspected internet fraudsters in Ile Ife, Osun State by operatives of the Ibadan zonal office of the commission.
The information was released by the commission’s head of media and publicity, Mr. Dele Oyewale, in a statement on Wednesday.
According to him, many of the suspects arrested in Ife in the midnight raid, duly profiled, by the command had been released.
He said profiling of suspects yet un-released would be completed, without further delay.
The commission assured the public that it would not relent in its adherence to the rule of law, in the exercise of its mandate.

The action was said to have been carried out sequel to “actionable intelligence on their suspected involvement in fraudulent internet-related activities.”
The spokesman of the EFCC said the suspects had made useful statements to the commission and would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
In protest of the arrest of the suspects who are said to be students of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, resident at off campus hostel at Oduduwa Estate in Ile Ife, the student union stormed the Ibadan office of the commission on Wednesday.
They arrived the Ibadan office in six buses and sought the release of the students.
