Osun State government has declared Wednesday a work-free day to mark the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1448 AH.
The announcement is contained in a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Aderibigbe Rasheed.
Rasheed said the Hijrah celebration marked the beginning of the Islamic New Year.
The commissioner prayed that the celebration would bring peace, prosperity and unity to the state.
He urged residents to participate joyfully in the celebrations, noting that the occasion promoted unity and togetherness.
