Gunmen kill three farmers in Ondo, police launch manhunt

The Police Command in Ondo State has said that it has deployed operatives to apprehend killers of three farmers at Ajagbusi community in Akure North local government area of the state on Tuesday.

DSP Ayanlade Olushola, the command’s spokesperson made the disclosure while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Akure.

Olushola, who said that the command had deployed all its tactical team to the affected community, urged residents not to take laws into their hands, and allow the security agencies to perform their lawful duty.

According to him, the command had mobilised all the needed resources to the affected area to ensure that the perpetrators were arrested and face the full wrath of the law.

“Yes, three farmers were killed by gunmen, and tactical teams have been deployed to the area to restore order and apprehend the assailants.

“So, security agencies are in place to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the area. The command urges all law abide citizens to go about their business without any fear,” Olushola said.

It was gathered that the victims were ambushed on the way to the farm and shot dead on Tuesday morning while riding a motorcycle.

The attackers reportedly fled the scene after the killing.
