The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has confirmed the death of four people in a crash on Gombe – Yola Road in Gombe State.
The State FRSC Sector Commander, Mr Samson Kaura, who confirmed the incident in Gombe on Thursday, said the crash involved a truck and a car.
Kaura said that the crash occurred around 8.40 p.m. on Wednesday and that it involved six people.
The sector commander said two people survived the accident as they were unhurt.
According to him, the remains of the deceased have been taken to the mortuary at Specialist Hospital, Gombe, while the vehicles involved in the accident have been taken to the police station for further investigation.
He explained that the crash occurred because one of the vehicles tried dangerously to overtake the other.

The sector commander appealed to motorists to avoid wrongful overtaking, which he blamed for many crashes in the state.
“My call to the drivers is that they should not overtake when and where they cannot see or be seen.
“In addition, though it is their right to travel anytime, I advise them to desist from travelling at night if possible, because of associated risks.
“If you must travel, kindly put your vehicle in good shape and ensure good lighting system. You should also adhere to traffic rules,” he said.
