EXTRA: Al Mustapha’s red herring, By Richard Akinnola

Al Mustapha

Major Hamza Al Mustapha often exhibits this arrogance that only him knows everything about Nigeria, particularly during the Abacha regime and that his “truth” should be the acceptable truth.

He has a penchant for twisting stories and always weaving non-existent conspiracy theories. Too much lies.

There is no amount of whitewashing Mustapha would undertake to change the narratives of the odious wickedness and evil perpetrated by the Abacha junta.

He would not be the first Chief Security Officer (CSO) for a Head or State or president. Nobody remembers who were the CSOs to Generals Yakubu Gowon, Murtala Mohammed and Obasanjo. For eight years that General Babangida ruled, nobody remembers who was his CSO. But for the Oputa panel, nobody would have known who was the CSO to General Abdulsalam Abubakar. But this loud mouth keeps spewing forth all manner of gibberish. From one podcast to another, he uses every opportunity to force a relevance.

Now, he has again come out to say the DSS Director who investigated the death of Abacha, is telling lies. He even claims to have the CCTV footages. So, he wants us to believe that there was a CCTV camera in the bedroom of Abacha! He should be bold enough to release not just the CCTV footages of Abacha’s bedroom but all other so-called pieces of evidence of his boss’s evil rule.

While he is at liberty to defend his former boss, sometimes, silence is golden. There is no amount of whitewashing Mustapha would undertake to change the narratives of the odious wickedness and evil perpetrated by the Abacha junta. Like Fela would say, “we go open book for am”. Enough of this red herring.
