Explosion: Police rescue victim, begin investigation in Abuja

The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, said it has rescued a victim and commenced investigation into an explosion incident that occurred along Mararaba-Nyanya bypass area of Abuja.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh, said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

She said the victim was rescued following a distress report over an explosion that occurred on Monday at about 2:50 p.m. along Mararaba-Nyanya bypass.

According to her, upon receipt of the report, officers of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit of the command were immediately deployed to the scene.

Adeh said the affected area was swiftly cordoned off for clearance and analysis to ensure the safety of commuters and residents.

She said a male victim was rescued at the scene of the explosion and promptly taken to the hospital, where he was said to be undergoing medical attention.

“A comprehensive investigation into the incident, including detailed forensic analysis has commenced to ascertain the exact cause and nature of the explosion,” she said.

She enjoined the public to remain calm and go about their lawful activities without fear, as there was currently no cause for alarm.

Adeh also, urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, objects, or movements to the nearest police station.
