English Premier League champions, Arsenal, came back from a goal down to defeat Chelsea 2- 1 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Morgan Rogers had put Chelsea ahead 77 seconds into the game but his goal was cancelled by Kai Haverts and Captain, Martin Odegaad, scored the winner for the host.
Rogers stunned the Emirates Stadium after 77 seconds with a right footed volley that Arsenal goalkeeper, David Raya, could do nothing about.
Calafiori thought he had restored parity shortly after, but VAR determined that Ezri Konsa, whose effort came off the post, was offside.
Mikel Arteta’s men were rewarded in the 25th minute when former Chelsea forward Kai Havertz cut in from the right and sent a low left-footed shot beyond Martinez in Chelsea’s post.
Arsenal grabbed the lead shortly after second half began.
New signing Christos Tzolis’s ball was dummied by Havertz for Odegaad to bury high into the net.
Goalkeeper David Raya was forced to make a brilliant save by Chelsea’s winger Estevao’s as Chelsea mounted pressure for an equalizer.
Chelsea Manager Xabi Alonso admitted that Arsenal are hard to beat.
“They are hard to beat, they are hard to create chances (against), but we had three or four chances to score more than one goal. This is a process. It’s still early days for us.
“Not happy that we couldn’t get anything but we need to keep calm and carry on,” he added.
Odegaad said it was a tough game but that his team’s mentality was to keep fighting till the end.
“It was a big game, massive game, tough opponent and we got there in the end so brilliant.
“Our mentality is to keep fighting. We have shown that many times. We never want to concede early but the reaction is top,” he said.
Arsenal are now level with Manchester City with maximum nine points after three games, while Chelsea are on six points from the same number of games.
