A group of Lagos indigenes under the aegis of Epetedo Indigenes Association, has accused Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of shortchanging them in his list of commissioners.

The group, in a statement issued on Monday, said the list was lopsided in distribution and unacceptable.

It therefore called on the governor to review the list and ensure that there was equity.

The statement signed by the group Alhaji Maroof-deen Babatunde Oshodi, Alhaji Mondiu Babatunde Sarumi, and Alhaji Nosiru-deen Adegboyega Oshodi reads in part: “We hereby register strongly the disappointment of Epetedo indigenes with the contemptuous disposition of the governor to the people that stood for and with him when the going was rough, really rough.

“We feel shortchanged by this list of commissioners. It is outrightly unacceptable to us.”

The association added that “With all sense of responsibility, we view with utmost dismay the lopsided distribution of the said list and strongly request an urgent review of the composition, so as to give all the much desired equity and equal opportunity as provided by both the Nigerian Constitution and sense of fairness.”

The group stated further: “It’s in this regard, that we call on the Lagos State Government, the APC Leaders in Lagos Island and all others concerned in the exercise of appointing, nominating, recommending, to revisit the 39 names as published and do holistic reappraisal to justify equity and balance of distribution.”
