#EndSARS: Youths suspend protest in Oyo

Youths in Oyo State who have been protesting for the disbandment of SARS and against bad governance in the country have suspended the ongoing protest to ensure proper coordination of the young people.

The youths made the disclosure in a statement by the Convener, Mr. Kunle Odujare, and made available on Wednesday to journalists on in Ibadan, the state capital.

While expressing displeasure over the violence in Ojoo area of Ibadan and the Lekki, Lagos State, massacre which claimed lives and property, the youths sympathised with the families of those that lost their lives and prayed that God would comfort them while praying for quick recovery of those injured.

Odujare said youths in the state are responsible and would ensure that protesters henceforth would be safe, stating that measures were being put in place to protest lives of Nigerians and prevent further breakdown of law and order.

According to him, youths in the state would ensure that the process of expressing their minds on the need for police reforms, bad governance, infrastructure development among others would be maturely and decently communicated without crisis or causing mayhem in the state.

He also emphasised that Nigerian youths would not be tired to continue the protest until a better Nigeria was achieved, urging those blocking the roads not to embark on such anymore but coordinate the protest without making life miserable for the people.

He also disclosed that henceforth, announcements would be made on location of protest in the state as they had adopted Challenge, Iwo Road and Stale Secretariat as the points for peaceful protest, stating that all protests had been suspended to allow the youths restrategise.

Odujare added that on no account will protest in the state be violent, calling on other youths in the state to join while also urging Governor Seyi Makinde to within 48-hour constitute a credible judicial panel of inquiry that would look into the issues of injustice committed by members of the disbanded SARS holistically.
