The federal government has declared Tuesday, April 9 and Wednesday, April 10, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The announcement was made on Sunday in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Aishetu Ndayako, in Abuja.
According to Ndayako, the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the federal government, congratulated all Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of fasting.
Tunji-Ojo was said to have urged Muslim Ummmah to imbibe and practice the virtues that entailed kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighbourliness and compassion as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).
He further urged Nigerians to continue in the spirit of unity to improve and achieve peace and oneness in the country.
While wishing all Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-el-Fitr, the minister prayed that the peace, blessings and favour of Allah be with everyone and the country.
