The Senate has suspended Sen. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP-Kogi) for six months over total violation of the Senate Standing Rules 2023 as amended.
The suspension which was announced on Thursday followed the presentation of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions’ report led by its Chairman, Sen. Neda Imaseun during plenary.
Also, the Senate advised Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to apologise to the Senate for “disrespecting the institution,” just as it proposed the withdrawal of her salary and security details throughout the suspension period.
Recall that the committee launched an investigation into the alleged disorderly conduct of Akpoti-Uduaghan during the plenary session on February 20.

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan disrupted the plenary session on the day when she launched a verbal tirade, targeting Akpabio, following the reallocation to her, a new seat in view of some changes in the sitting arrangement.
The female senator accused Akpabio of continually disrespecting her.
At a point, the Senate President threatened to send her out of the chamber when she became uncontrollable.
Sanity eventually prevailed as the Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan finally took her new seat.
