The Sokoto police command has declared wanted, persons that claimed to be responsible for killing and setting ablaze, Deborah Samuel, over alleged blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed (SAW).

Deborah Samuel was a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto and was murdered on May 12, 2022.

In a video that went viral, some persons claimed to be responsible for her murder, displaying the box of matches which they claimed was used to set her ablaze.

Although two persons have been arrested and remanded, the police said they were still looking for those who claimed responsibility for the murder in the video.

In a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Sanusi Abubakar, on Tuesday, Sokoto police command said it had already deployed all its intelligence and was on the lookout for the suspects.

The statement reads in part: “The Sokoto State command under the able leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Kamaldeen Kola Okunlola fdc, has declared the suspects spotted in the viral video wanted.

“The command is using this medium to reiterate its commitment towards apprehending the suspects. The command has already deployed all its intelligence and is on the lookout for the suspects .

“Members of the public are enjoined to cooperate with the police and report any mere identification to the command or any security outfit in their domain.”
