CP to ‘corpers’: Don’t compromise NYSC’s integrity during election

The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Abayomi Peter Oladipo, has advised corps members not to undermine the integrity of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, scheme during the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

The Commissioner of Police made the statement while addressing 2024 Batch ‘B’ (Stream 1) corps members at the Multipurpose Hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko.

He warned the corps members not to allow anyone to use them for dirty deals during the election coming up in November and urged them to be law-abiding.

He said that corps members would be active players during the election and should play the game according to the rules and guidelines from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Abayomi said that in spite of security challenges worldwide, the police was there to protect the corps members.

He asserted that the members of the service corps were in a safe environment in the, stressing that the police in collaboration with other security and intelligence agencies in the state were working round the clock to ensure that the peaceful atmosphere in the state was sustained for the security benefit of all and sundry.

The CP who has attended value added courses that distinguished him as a unique and seasoned officer assured corps members of their safety and security in all the 18 Local Governments of the state.

He promised to ensure the monitoring of Corps Lodges and residential buildings occupied by corps members.

He urged the corps participants not to misuse the privilege the Constitution guaranteed them.

The State Coordinator, NYSC, Mr. Sam Amaramiro Pepple while welcoming the CP said that his visit was an assurance to the corps members that they were safe in the state.

The state coordinator said that he was proud of them and convinced beyond any doubt that they would not disappoint the scheme during the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

Pepple thanked his guest for the visit and sought more coverage and surveillance for members of the service corps wherever they are posted within the state.
