The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has declared a 24 hours prayer chain session across the country as part of efforts to halt the spread of coronavirus.

The prayer session is scheduled to hold from April 6 to April 7, 2020.

The proposed prayer session was announced in a statement, personally signed by CAN president, Rev. Samson Olasupo A. Ayokunle, to all heads of blocs that make up the association, all national officers, all zonal chairmen, all state chairmen and every Christian family in the country.

The prayer chain, CAN said “is expected to hold from 6am on Monday 6th to 6am of Tuesday 7th April 2020 (24hours),” adding that “it is expected that each church should divide all the congregating families into groups. Prayers are to be led by each family for a maximum period of Thirty (30) Minutes each.”

According to CAN, the prayer points in line with 2 Chronicles 7:14 are:

“1. Forgiveness of Sin – That God in his infinite mercy should forgive our transgressions and have mercy upon us as a nation.

“2. National Healing – That God should heal our land and cleanse the country from this Coronavirus Pandemic and other Sicknesses/Diseases lurking around.

“3. Individual Healing – That God should heal those affected, known and unknown with the pandemic, and that He should cleanse them and restore their health.

“4.That the leadership of our local churches and our government would be caring enough in making palliative provision available for those who may find provision of food difficult for their families because of restriction of movements or shutdown.

“5.That the faith of God’s people might not fail.

“6.That the Lord would turn this global affliction into revival of faith in the Lord and soul winning of many that have not known the Lord.”
