Court remands man, 55, for allegedly defiling two minors

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, ordered the remand of a 55-year-old man, Bamaiyi Muagaji, in the correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly defiling two minors.

Muagaji whose address was not provided, is being tried for alleged defilement.

His plea was, however, not taken.

The Prosecutor, Insp Moyosola Adesola, told the court that the suspect committed the offence between April 2025 and May 2025 in Ado-Ekiti.

She alleged that the suspect defiled a seven-year-old girl and nine-year-old girl respectively.

Adesola said the victims on two different occasions went to fetch water from the suspect’s house, and while on it, he called them inside and asked them to pull off their pants and defiled them.

According to her, the offence contravened Section 31 of Child Right Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional centre, pending issuance of legal advice.

He also adjourned the case until June 23 for mention.
