The President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Sunday Eid-el-fitri in Nigeria.
Abubakar, who is also the Sultan of Sokoto, made the announcement Saturday night in a broadcast, declaring that the moon had been sighted in different locations in Nigeria.
He said with the moon of Shawwal having been sighted, Ramadan fasting had ended.
His words: “With the sighting of the moon, Sunday, March 30, 2025, will be the 1st of Shawwal 1446 AH, marking the day for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.”

The Sultan of Sokoto, while rejoicing with Muslims on the successful completion of the holy month urged them to sustain the virtues of patience, piety and charity.
Recall that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had announced Sunday as Eid-el-fitr.
According to a Saudi Gazette report, the announcement was made on Saturday following the sighting of the crescent moon of Shawwal in several locations across the kingdom.
