Boko Haram: How 13 soldiers, 2 policemen were killed in fresh attack -Army

No fewer than 13 soldiers and two policemen were killed in an ambush by the terrorists group, Boko Haram.

The soldiers of 1 Division were on escort duty along Damaturu-Maiduguri Road on Monday when they were ambushed.

Although the soldiers fought through the ambush, they suffered casualties.

The soldiers, according to Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, Deputy Director of Public Relations, Theatre Command, stated that the Nigerian troops engaged the terrorists in a fire fight.

He said a clearance operation to pursue and eliminate the Boko Haram terrorists ambush party was still ongoing.

In the same vein, the military said it repelled an attack by Boko Haram on a Forward Operational Base at Kukareta in Damaturu Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The terrorists who attacked the location at about 6.30 p.m. were said to have met with prompt and fierce response of the vigilant troops who engaged and overpowered them.

The soldiers were said to have killed several of the terrorists.

A soldier was however wounded in the encounter.
