Boiling Point hails Oba Matemilola on first coronation anniversary

An online media platform, Boiling Point, has congratulated the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola, on his first coronation anniversary on the throne of the throne.

The monarch was described as a bridge-builder who had massively contributed to the unity and bonding of the Owu people of Egbaland and those in the diaspora in an incredible way.

In a press statement signed by the initiator of Boiling Point, Mr. Ayo Arowojolu, he said the foremost traditional ruler had been making very significant impact in the unification of the Yoruba race especially in forging harmonious co-existence with brother monarchs within his vicinity since his ascension to the throne in August last year.

Arowojolu hailed the king for using his position to promote peace among the various ethnic nationalities in the country as well as working with relevant stakeholders and institutions to advance the socio-economic development of the people.

Describing Oba Matemilola as a vibrant, visionary and progressive monarch, Arowojolu noted that the Olowu had always been in the forefront of the quest for lifting up his teeming subjects out of the poverty trap particularly with his focus on education and health sector.

The Boiling Point initiator said: “Within the past one year, avid watchers of developments in Owu Kingdom would attest to the fact that Oba Matemilola is a peace ambassador and a bridge builder who always lend his voice to the unity and oneness of the Egba nation and his counsel has always helped to calm frayed nerves at critical points.”

He said further that the Olowu had used his God-given resources as a philanthropist to contribute to the wellbeing of the teeming youths in his domain through sports development and enhancement of qualitative education especially in the area of project sponsorship and provision of platforms for them to showcase their in-born talents.

He prayed God to grant the royal father long life, good health and a peaceful and purposeful reign to continue to contribute meaningfully to national development.

The eminent traditional ruler is a member of Boiling Point, an online platform for informed viewpoints and perspectives on governance and national development and he is, in fact, the Chairman, Board of Royals and Elders of the Group, comprising several prominent Nigerians including over 200 professors across the country.

Meanwhile, the first coronation anniversary is expected to begin on Thursday, August 3, 2023 with a world press conference to be addressed by the royal father, followed by a medical outreach and other events within the palace at Oke Ago-Owu.

On Friday, August 4, 2023 which incidentally marks Oba Matemilola’s 59th birthday, installation of chiefs will take place at the palace while the grand finale on Saturday August 5, is expected to round off all activities including installation of other chiefs at a ceremony where former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the Balogun of Owu, as well as the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun will be present.
