Ogun State government has dismissed as false and unfounded reports circulating on social media and other platforms alleging that Fulani herdsmen, Boko Haram insurgents, and other terrorist groups are planning to invade the state.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, the government said available security intelligence and reports from relevant agencies indicated that Ogun State remained safe and secure.

The government urged residents not to be distracted by misinformation designed to create panic and fear among the populace, stressing that there was no truth in claims of an impending security threat within the state.

According to the government, security agencies across Ogun State have remained vigilant, while adequate measures have been put in place to prevent any attempt by criminal elements to undermine public peace and order.

“The Ogun State Government has noted with dismay the rumours being circulated on social media and across different platforms indicating that the state is under imminent threat of invasion by killer herders, Boko Haram terrorists fleeing military operations in the North-East, and other criminal groups,” Akinmade said.

“The true situation is that there is no imminent threat of invasion by any terrorist group. Security agencies and operatives across the state are on high alert, and adequate measures have already been put in place to checkmate any individual or group seeking to foment trouble or undermine public order.”

He added that some individuals appeared to be exploiting security challenges being experienced in other parts of the country to create unnecessary fear among Ogun residents.

“It is clear that some individuals are attempting to exploit security challenges being experienced in other parts of the country to create a climate of fear in Ogun State. This is highly irresponsible and capable of causing unnecessary anxiety among residents,” he said.

Akinmade disclosed that security agencies had already apprehended some individuals linked to the circulation of the false reports and misinformation on social media.

He noted that those arrested were being prosecuted in accordance with the law, adding that the action was intended to serve as a deterrent to others who might seek to spread falsehoods, incite panic, or create chaos within the state.

“Security agencies have identified and apprehended some of the individuals responsible for spreading these false narratives. They are currently facing prosecution, and this should serve as a clear warning to anyone seeking to deliberately spread misinformation, create panic, or disrupt public peace. The government will continue to work with security agencies to ensure that those who engage in such acts are held accountable,” he stated.

The statement emphasized that Ogun State continued to enjoy strong collaboration among security agencies, local authorities, traditional institutions, and community stakeholders.

The synergy, it noted, had significantly enhanced intelligence gathering, rapid response capacity, and overall coordination in maintaining peace across the state.

It further disclosed that the state government was already working in close conjunction with all security agencies to fine-tune strategic, state-specific security measures aimed at ensuring lasting peace and stability.

The initiative, according to the government, is designed to deepen collaboration between conventional security agencies and traditional security architecture at the grassroots.

Akinmade explained that the integrated approach would strengthen intelligence sharing, community participation, and early warning systems, leveraging the enduring role of traditional institutions in local security management alongside modern security frameworks.

“The government is not only focused on addressing immediate security concerns but is also committed to putting in place enduring mechanisms that will preserve peace and security in the long term. This involves strengthening the synergy between conventional security institutions and traditional security architecture, which continues to play a vital role in intelligence gathering and community-based conflict prevention,” he said.

The government also noted that Governor Dapo Abiodun had consistently prioritized the security of lives and property through sustained investments in security infrastructure, logistical support for security agencies, and the deployment of technology-driven initiatives aimed at enhancing surveillance and crime prevention across the state.

The statement further urged residents to rely strictly on official government communication channels and recognized security agencies for information.

It warned that the indiscriminate sharing of unverified reports on social media could inadvertently aid mischief makers seeking to spread fear and confusion.

Akinmade assured that the state government remained proactive rather than reactive in security management and is continuously reviewing intelligence reports and nationwide security developments to ensure Ogun State remains peaceful, safe, and conducive for residents, businesses, and visitors.

He added that while citizens were encouraged to remain vigilant as responsible members of society, there was no cause for alarm, as all security formations in the state were fully alert and working in close coordination to safeguard communities and maintain public order.

Reiterating the administration’s commitment to public safety, Akinmade warned that the government would not hesitate to take decisive action against anyone attempting to disrupt the peace and stability currently enjoyed in the state.

He also called on residents to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and useful information whenever necessary, stressing that security remains a shared responsibility.

The state government further encouraged residents to support ongoing security efforts through responsible and timely information sharing.

For credible security information and assistance, members of the public, it said, might contact the Ogun State Police Command through the Gateway Shield toll-free line on 0800 000 9111 or the emergency lines: 0906 283 7609, 0912 014 1706, 0915 102 7369, and 0708 497 2994.

The government urged members of the public to disregard unverified reports and refrain from spreading rumours capable of causing panic or disrupting public peace, assuring residents that Ogun State remained safe, secure, and open for lawful business and socio-economic activities.

The General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, MFM, Worldwide, Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya, has led members of the church in special prayers concerning the security challenges facing Nigeria, particularly the activities of bandits and kidnappers.

Speaking during the midweek Manna Water Service on June 3, Olukoya expressed concern over the plight of citizens affected by insecurity and called on believers to seek divine intervention for the nation.

He cited 2 Chronicles 7:14, emphasizing the importance of prayer, repentance, and dependence on God for national healing.

Addressing the congregation, he noted that prayer remained a powerful tool for confronting difficult situations and encouraged worshippers to pray earnestly for peace, justice, and the safety of all Nigerians.

During the prayer session, members offered various prayer points, including requests for God’s protection over citizens, the release of those held captive, the exposure of criminal activities, and the restoration of peace across the country.

Special prayers were also offered for the rescue of abducted persons and for divine wisdom and strength for those working to address the nation’s security challenges.

The congregation responded to the prayer points with enthusiasm and faith, joining together in intercession for the country.

Following the prayer session, Dr. Olukoya continued with his sermon titled, “Violent Spiritual Practices to Defeat Violent Problems,” the third message in the ongoing teaching series.

The governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday inaugurated the Local Organising Committee, LOC, for the maiden edition of the National Intermediate Games, NIG) tagged ‘Lagos 2026’.

Governor Sanwo-Olu charged the LOC members to approach the assignment with dedication, professionalism and a clear sense of purpose.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of Lagos House, Marina, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the Local Organising Committee’s responsibility as a significant step towards advancing sports development in Nigeria.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the National Intermediate Games would provide a platform for young athletes across the country to discover and showcase their talents while creating opportunities for growth and excellence in sports.

He said Lagos State’s decision to host the competition in October 2026 reflected its commitment to youth empowerment and sports development, noting that the event would also foster social inclusion, national integration and cultural exchange among participants from different parts of the country.

“The games represent more than a sporting event. They are an investment into the future of our young people and an avenue to strengthen unity and create opportunities through sports,” he said.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by members of the Local Organising Committee, LOC, led by the Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Mr. Bukola Olopade, Governor Sanwo-Olu said his administration held sporting activities in high esteem and would continue to put sports in a position it belonged.

Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the reforms spearheaded by both the Director-General and the Chairman of the National Sports Commission for putting sports and sporting activities on an impressive trajectory.

“Sporting activities are not magic; they are a deliberate, intentional investment that you must build up on. You must create, follow up and follow through to get to the desire you want,” he said.

The Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Mr. Bukola Olopade, commended the Lagos State government for its sustained investment in sports infrastructure and youth development.

Olopade noted that Lagos had consistently demonstrated leadership in hosting major sporting events and expressed confidence in Lagos State’s capacity to successfully host the maiden National Intermediate Games.

He said, “The 8.8 trillion dollar economy of sports that is going to happen in the next 20 years has Lagos with a footprint in it already. It is not a difficult decision for us to choose Lagos as the host state for the maiden National Intermediate Games. Lagos has been a pillar of support for us in the National Sports Commission in every aspect of sporting activities.”

Speaking during the inauguration on behalf of the Local Organising Committee, Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development and Co-Chairman of the LOC, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, appreciated Governor Sanwo-Olu for the confidence reposed in the committee.

He assured that Local Organising Committee members would work tirelessly to deliver a successful tournament that would positively impact millions of Nigerian youths and position them for greater opportunities on the global stage.

The Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, also expressed the readiness of Lagos to host the maiden National Intermediate Games.

The National Intermediate Games is expected to bring together young athletes from across the country, providing a pathway for talent identification, development and national sports growth.

Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, sister of the former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has been kidnapped.

She was kidnapped Wednesday morning along with her twin children, Peter and Paul.

The 43 years old woman was said to have been abducted with her children at about 7.30 a.m. on her way to drop her children in school.

The abduction was confirmed in a statement by Mr. Femi Awogboro, media aide to the former minister.

The statement reads in part: “The family of Adebayo Adelabu, former Minister of Power and leading governorship aspirant of APC in Oyo State, wishes to formally confirm the unfortunate kidnapping of his younger sister, Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, alongside her twin sons, Peter and Paul, in the early hours of Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

“Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, aged 43, was reportedly abducted by armed gunmen at about 7:30 a.m. while on her way to drop her children at school in Ibadan. The abductors also forcefully took away her 12-year-old twin sons, who were with her at the time of the incident.”

Mrs. Adegoke John-Paul was said to be the youngest of the five children of Mrs. Olufunmilayo Aduke Adegoke Adelabu.

Until her voluntary retirement last year, she had served meritoriously at both the Central Bank of Nigeria and First Bank Pension Custodian.

She was said to have relocated to Ibadan with her children after her retirement while she was preparing to eventually join her husband, Mr. John Paul, who had earlier relocated to the United States of America.

The incident was said to have been reported to security agencies.

“We are pleased to confirm that security operatives have swung into action and preliminary investigations have commenced in earnest. Efforts are currently ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the apprehension of those responsible for this heinous crime.

“Adebayo Adelabu and the entire family are deeply distressed by this tragic development but remain hopeful and confident in the capacity of the security agencies to secure the safe release of Mrs. John-Paul and her children,” the statement reads further.

Lagos State governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has stated that his administration, through the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, is set to train 10,000 residents in industry-relevant skills across technology, construction, fashion, health and business sectors.

Sanwo-Olu said this at the Omniverse Africa Summit 3.0, organised by Omniverse Africa and the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, LSETF, with the theme “Connected Future: Synergy for Impact,” held at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts (National Theatre), Iganmu, Lagos, on Tuesday.

The governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, noted that the government was also investing in broadband access, digitising government services, establishing innovation clusters, and building the policy environment that makes entrepreneurship viable at scale.

According to him, “Our administration has pursued these efforts deliberately under the THEMES+ Development Agenda. We are investing in broadband access, digitising government services, establishing innovation clusters, and building the policy environment that makes entrepreneurship viable at scale. We are not simply aspiring to be Africa’s technology hub; we are building the conditions that make that designation earned.”

The governor described the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, LSETF, as a key vehicle for achieving the state’s employment and entrepreneurship objectives, noting that the agency was established to reduce unemployment by providing access to capital and skills development opportunities.

Reeling out the different initiatives put in place by the government, Sanwo-Olu disclosed that in 2025 alone, the LSETF disbursed ₦1.91 billion in affordable loans to more than 4,000 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs, while grants worth over ₦23 million were provided to 65 businesses to support expansion and resilience.

He further disclosed that the Fund’s graduate internship programme facilitated paid employment opportunities for 2,500 young people, with monthly stipends provided to ease the financial burden associated with entering the workforce.

The governor added that LSETF had also empowered 1,050 persons with disabilities through entrepreneurship training and the provision of start-up tools, stressing that inclusion remains a central pillar of the state’s economic development agenda.

“And through a renewed partnership with the United States African Development Foundation, LSETF is on course to train 10,000 Lagosians in industry-relevant skills across technology, construction, fashion, health, and business. These figures matter because they represent a model: that when the government intervenes deliberately, transparently, and with genuine accountability to outcomes, it changes lives at scale,” said the governor.

The European Union Ambassador to Nigeria, Gautier Mignot, affirmed its commitment of the union to supporting Nigeria’s digital and creative economy, describing the country’s youthful population as both a tremendous asset and a pressing economic challenge.

“With a large population under the age of 40, Nigeria possesses remarkable vitality, innovation, and resourcefulness. However, the growing number of young people entering the labour market annually requires urgent and sustainable job creation strategies. Though the traditional sectors such as agriculture, industry, and extractive activities remain important, they alone may not sufficiently address this challenge, but the rapidly expanding digital and creative economy is a viable pathway for growth and employment,” he said.

The ambassador noted that Nigeria’s youth, having grown up with digital technologies, were uniquely positioned to drive innovation and accelerate economic development, a trend mirrored across Africa.

Similarly, the Ambassador, Federal Republic of Germany to Nigeria, Annett Günther, also emphasised its strong commitment to Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem and economic transformation, describing the country as uniquely positioned to shape Africa’s connected and technology-driven future.

Günther noted that emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and green innovation are transforming economies and societies, while creating unprecedented opportunities for entrepreneurship and sustainable growth.

“Countries across the world face shared challenges, including job creation for growing youth populations, climate change, economic resilience, and ensuring inclusive access to technological progress. As such, addressing these challenges requires collaboration, partnerships and interconnected systems, making platforms such as the Omniverse Summit increasingly significant,” said Günther.

In his welcome address, Omniverse Africa Co-Convener, Charles Emembolu stated that the summit reflected a shared belief that Africa’s future would be shaped by the collective strength of its human capital, not by isolated efforts, stressing that the continent’s greatest asset, is not found in its natural resources but in its people, the innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers and creators drawn from across the continent and beyond.

He noted that while Africa is rich in talent, ambition and creativity, the continent continued to face a major challenge of access, particularly to capital, markets, networks and opportunities.

His words, “Initiatives such as Omnivest Africa exist to bridge this gap by connecting people and institutions that are driving Africa’s transformation. Therefore, the future cannot be built by governments, institutions, or private actors working independently, but through deliberate collaboration among all stakeholders.”

The Chairman, Geometric Power Limited and former Nigerian Minister of Power, Professor Barth Nnaji, will be a Special Guest of Honour at the forthcoming SUPERNEWS conference and 10th anniversary scheduled for July 7, 2026.

The conference, with the theme: ‘Local Content & Digitisation: Building Synergy Between Oil & Gas and Insurance Sectors for Inclusive Growth’ will be held at Oriental Hotel, 3, Lekki Road, Victoria Island, Lagos at 10.00 a.m. prompt.

The Commissioner for Insurance, National Insurance Commission, NAICOM, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin has confirmed his attendance at the conference which will bring together other regulators, key stakeholders in the oil and gas and insurance sectors, civil society organisations, media and students, among others.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Universal Insurance Plc, Dr. Jeff Duru, will chair the conference while the Group Managing Director/CEO, Royal Exchange Plc, Mrs. Idu Okeahialam, will deliver the keynote paper.

The Publisher, SUPERNEWS Nigeria, Ngozi Onyeakusi, said the choice of this year’s theme was borne out of the quest to provide insight on how the two sectors, insurance and oil and gas, can leverage cutting-edge technologies to boost collaboration and synergy towards surmounting challenges associated in implementing the Provisions of Sections 49 and 50 of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development, NOGICD, Act.

For instance, provisions of Sections 49 and 50 of the NOGICD Act requires all operators engaged in any form of activity or project in the oil and gas industry to insure all insurable risks related to its oil and gas business with an insurance company, through an insurance broker registered in Nigeria.

The NOGICD Act also provides that where an operator seeks to place an insurable risk offshore, a written approval of the National Insurance Commission, NAICOM, must first be sought and obtained and that NAICOM, prior to the issuance of the approval, must first determine that local capacity has been fully exhausted.

In a bid to smoothen the implementation and compliance to the Act, the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, and NAICOM in 2022 launched the relevant guidelines which was expected to address the loopholes that were identified in implementing the provisions of the Act, particularly, Sections 49 and 50.

However, research has shown that insurance firms before now still faced lots of challenges ranging from capital inadequacy and others.

With the birth of the Nigeria Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025, the insurance industry is now positioned for global competitiveness while the ongoing recapitalisation exercise is expected to pave way for big, strong and reliable insurance firms.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Oyo State Wing, on Tuesday staged a solidarity rally in Ibadan over the continued captivity of teachers and pupils recently abducted in Oriire local government of Oyo State.

The rally, which was simultaneously organised across different states of the federation in compliance with a directive from the national leadership of the union, was aimed at mounting pressure on relevant authorities to secure the immediate release of the victims.

In Ibadan, the nationwide rally by teachers began on a solemn note.

The protesters converged at the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC secretariat in the American Quarters area of the city, where the state NLC chairman, Comrade Olukayode Martins, addressed members on the reasons for the rally and reiterated the need for urgent action to secure the release of those in captivity.

He expressed concerns that the attack was on schools or teachers and students alone but also on the generality of workers, citizens and the entire society as no one is safe anymore in Nigeria.

“The abduction of innocent teachers and pupils is unacceptable. We gathered here today to lend our voices to the demand for their immediate and unconditional release. Every Nigerian deserves to live and work without fear,” Martins said.

Following the briefing, the procession moved from the NLC secretariat through major parts of the city before making a stop at the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, where they were received by Governor Seyi Makinde.

Participants carried banners and placards bearing various inscriptions reflecting their concerns, while singing solidarity songs and using megaphones to explain their plight to members of the public.

Union leaders and members also took time to explain the purpose of the peaceful rally, stressing that it was not intended to be confrontational.

“This rally is not a confrontation. It is a passionate appeal to government, security agencies and all stakeholders to act swiftly. We are speaking for our colleagues and pupils whose voices cannot be heard at this moment,” one of the organisers stated.

They said the protest was a mass appeal to the collective conscience of the nation, the moral responsibility of government, and the constitutional duty of security agencies to protect lives and property.

Addressing the governor and other government officials at the Governor’s Office, the Chairman, NUT, Oyo State Wing, Comrade Hassan Ajibola Fatai, declared that the union had withdrawn the services of its members across public schools in the state until the abducted teachers and pupils regain their freedom.

“We have directed our members to withdraw their services from schools until our colleagues and the pupils in captivity regain their freedom. We cannot continue business as usual while our members and innocent children remain in the hands of kidnappers,” Fatai said.

He called on the government and security agencies to intensify efforts toward the safe rescue of the victims, while also demanding improved security measures in schools to prevent a recurrence of such ugly incidents.

“Our schools must be safe places for learning. Government must strengthen security around schools and put in place proactive measures that will prevent a recurrence of this unfortunate incident,” he added.

Also speaking, the chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Oyo State Council, Comrade Olukayode Martins, described the abduction as an attack on the education sector and the future of the nation.

He said organised labour would continue to stand in solidarity with the teachers until the victims are rescued.

“An injury to one is an injury to all. The labour movement cannot fold its arms while teachers and pupils are held captive. We call on security agencies to intensify efforts and ensure their safe and immediate release,” Martins stated.

The president of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Comrade Akinteye Babatunde, who joined the rally, expressed concern over the growing insecurity affecting schools across the country.

He noted that students nationwide were worried about the safety of learners and teachers, urging government at all levels to prioritise security in educational institutions.

Responding, Governor Seyi Makinde assured the protesters that the government was doing everything possible to secure the release of the abducted teachers and pupils.

The governor noted that the entire nation was distressed by the unfortunate development and not only the teaching profession.

He expressed optimism that those in captivity would soon regain their freedom and pledged the government’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

Authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State, have expelled 365 students for gaining admission into the Institution using falsified academic documents.

The affected students, all enrolled in various Higher National Diploma, HND, programmes, were found to have presented fake National Diploma, ND, results and forged academic transcripts from different institutions to facilitate their admission into the polytechnic.

The announcement was made on Monday in a statement issued by the Head, Public Relations and Protocol, Mr. ‘Yemi Ajibola.

He explained that the expulsion followed a comprehensive verification exercise conducted on the credentials submitted by students during the admission and registration processes.

This decision, he added, underscored the institution’s commitment to sanitising the academic system and reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy against fraudulent practices and other forms of academic misconduct.

He said the distribution of the expelled students across the schools is as follows:

* School of Communication and Information Technology – 156

* School of Engineering – 36

* School of Business and Management Studies – 117

* School of Science and Technology – 54

* School of Environmental Studies – 2

He said in view of this development, the Rector, Dr. ‘Koye Jolaoso, had cautioned prospective applicants and admission seekers against the use of fake academic credentials to gain admission into the institution.

According to the Rector, the decisive action reflects the polytechnic’s commitment to upholding academic integrity, promoting excellence, and repositioning the 47-year-old Institution as a model of transparency, credibility, and professionalism in tertiary education.

Lagos State governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has emphasized the importance of proper parenting, moral guidance, and active involvement in raising children, describing them as critical factors in building responsible citizens and a better society.

The governor made the assertion on Sunday at the Year 2026, Eid-Ul-Adha celebration, held at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, where he urged parents to devote more time to nurturing their children in line with the teachings of Prophet Ibrahim.

He added that parents must not only pray for their children but also guide them with sound religious, moral, and academic teachings to help them become responsible adults.

Sanwo-Olu who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, noted that Prophet Ibrahim (AS), revered as the father of the Abrahamic faiths, remains a model of obedience, sacrifice, patience, and devotion to God.

He stressed the need for parents to listen to their children, respect their opinions, and instill values such as tolerance, mutual respect, and healthy dialogue.

According to him, “As parents and guardians, it is important to teach our children the importance of faith, discipline, and respect for human life, because the human body is a trust from Almighty Allah and should not be abused through harmful substances or destructive behaviour. For me, responsible parenting remains a key factor in preventing social vices and ensuring that children grow up with the right values and sense of purpose.”

He added that every parent’s desire is for their children to attain greater heights in every area of life, such as academics, knowledge, and other achievements, than they did.

While highlighting the efforts of the Lagos State government under the leadership of the present administration in strengthening family values and social welfare through various intervention programmes, the governor said the state had established agencies that addressed domestic violence, family disputes, and other social challenges affecting families and communities.

Earlier in her welcome address, the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwoolu, noted that the event marked the celebration of Eid-Ul-Adha, which provides Muslim faithful with the opportunity to reflect deeply on the timeless lessons of faith, sacrifice, obedience, and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.

She stated that Lagosians must continue to uphold the virtues of unity, tolerance, and love for one another, irrespective of ethnic, religious, or social differences, stressing that the state’s diversity remains one of its greatest strengths.

According to her, “The theme of this event reminds us of the importance of steadfastness in faith, righteousness, and unwavering devotion to God. It calls on us all to live lives guided by integrity, compassion, humility, and peaceful coexistence. As Lagosians, we must continue to uphold the virtue of this period and together, we can continue to build a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive Lagos State.”

Speaking further, she charged parents and guardians to continue to instill good morals, discipline, and the fear of God in their children and youths, stressing that doing so would make them grow into responsible citizens and future leaders who would positively impact society.

In his lecture titled, “Modelling Our Families After the Family of Khalilullah Ibrahim (AS) for a Successful Life and a Greater Nigeria,” the Chief Imam of Lekki Central Mosque, Imam Dr. Ridwan Jamiu, emphasized the need for parents to build peaceful, God-fearing, and loving homes, describing the family as the foundation of every successful society.

He urged parents to instill the values of tolerance, respect for others’ opinions, and obedience to the will of Allah in their children, adding that parents should make time for their children, listen to them, and respect their views to build their confidence and prevent them from becoming domineering in character.

The Chief Imam noted that Islam teaches believers to live purposeful lives devoted to the worship of Allah and to contribute positively to society.

He encouraged parents to seek and value the opinions of their children, stressing that doing so helps to nurture tolerance, mutual respect, healthy dialogue, and understanding among individuals.

“According to the teachings of Islam, we must live meaningful lives because we are in this world to worship Allah according to His will, and our worship should reflect positively on our nation. Parents should seek their children’s opinions and teach them to respect others’ views. By doing so, you are teaching tolerance, respect, healthy dialogue, and the importance of avoiding a domineering attitude,” he said.
