A 12-man committee has been set up to probe the attack on the convoy of the First Lady of Ekiti State, Mrs. Bisi Fayemi, by students of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, FUOYE, protesting poor electricity supply.

The Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE, Prof. Kayode Soremekun, who made this known said the committee would find out the circumstances surrounding the protest and the attack on the First Lady’s convoy.

The committee is headed by a Deputy Vice Chancellor of the school, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, while Mrs Blessing Eyiorunpe is the Secretary.

It would be recalled that the protesting students attacked Bisi Fayemi’s convoy on Tuesday.

Two students were reported to have been killed in the crisis while two policemen were said to be seriously injured.

The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Mr Asuquo Amba, confirmed that two of his men were wounded.

Said he: “Two persons have been arrested and one of them has already confessed to committing the crime

“When a crime is committed, we don’t fold our arms and watch. Even a civilian can effect arrest if crime is committed in front of him and hand the suspects over to the police.”

He added: “It is sad that the police are being attacked by criminals and the civilians who we are protecting are also attacking our people.

“We won’t rest until all the perpetrators of this dastardly attack are arrested and brought to justice.”
