The new chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Joash Amupitan, is expected to resume work today.
It is expected that he would be sworn in by the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the National Executive Council, FEC, meeting after which he will formally resume work.
An invitation by the Director, Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, indicates that Amupitan will meet with the directors of the commission at the INEC headquarters today.
The Senate confirmed the appointment of Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN) as the new chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, last week.
He succeeds Professor Mahmood Yakubu.
Speaking during the screening, Amupitan promised to improve the electoral system by working with all relevant agencies like the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC.
58 years old, Amupitan is from Kogi State.
A legal luminary, he was the deputy vice-chancellor (Administration) at University of Jos.
