The National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission in charge of Electoral Operations and Logistics, Mrs. Amina Zakari, has been removed.
She was accused by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of participating in the alleged rigging of elections in Osun and Ekiti State where its candidates lost.
Zakari has been replaced with Professor Okechukwu Ibeanu as a part of the reorganization of the standing committees of the electoral body.
In the statement issued on Thursday by INEC after its Thursday meeting in Abuja, the National Commissioner and Member, Information and Vote Education Committee, Malam Mohammed Haruna, said she now heads the Health and Welfare Committee.
Other changes made in the leadership of INEC’s standing committees are: Barrister Festus Okoye (Information and Voter Education Committee); Prince Solomon Adedeji Soyebi (Board of the Electoral Institute); Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Lecky (Planning, Monitoring and Strategy Committee) and Professor Okechukwu Ibeanu (Electoral Operations and Logistics Committee).
