Former Governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, has been freed from the case of money laundering to the tune of N4.7 billion filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
In the verdict given by the Federal High Court of Lagos, presided over by Justice Mohammed Idris, according to reports by the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, the case against him was “too low in evidence.”
Also discharged and acquitted was Waheed Akanbi, who was Oyo State Commissioner for Finance during Ladoja’s administration.
Ladoja was governor of Oyo State between 2003 and 2007.
It would be recalled that the case was a re-arraignment after the charge by the EFCC, was amended.
The 11-count charge was on money laundering and unlawful conversion of public funds.
