Controversial musician, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, was on Thursday arraigned before Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, Ogun State, over a case of allegedly assaulting officials of Ogun Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
He was however granted bail by the magistrate, Mr. O.L. Oke, in the sum of N2 million, with one surety.
The surety, it was stated, must be a licenced bondman registered with Ogun State government.
Portable was accused of conspiracy, assault, unlawful obstruction, being armed with cutlass and gun and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
Mr Timileyin Oredein, a senior state counsel, told the court that Portable and his co-workers unlawfully assaulted, restricted and obstructed the officials of Ota Zonal Planning Office of the ministry on February 5 at about 10:00 a.m. at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu, Sango-Ota in Ogun State.
The officials – Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef and Akinpelumi Oyero – were at Portable’s Odogwu Bar performing their lawful duties when they were attacked.
According to Oredein, Portable and his boys, armed with cutlasses and guns, inflicted injuries on the government officials.

Portable pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.
His defence counsel, Mrs Oluwatoyin Omomehin, prayed the court to grant Portable bail on liberal terms.
The magistrate granted the musician bail in the sum of N2 million, with one surety.
He however warned the controversial musician against making any comment on social media or cause trouble over the case, warning that refusal to comply would lead to the withdrawal of the bail.
The case was adjourned till March 5 for hearing.
