Eid-el-Kabir: FRSC deploys 35,000 personnel for safety

In order to ensure safety on Nigerian roads during the muslim festival,Eid-el-Kabir, the Federal Roads Safety Corps, FRSC, has deployed 35000 personnel to carry out a special patrol.

The patrol will be carried out between August 17 and 26.

The plan of the FRSC was made known by the Corps Public Education Officer, Mr. Bisi Kazeem.

He disclosed that the 35000 personnel were made up of 21,000 Regular Marshals and 14,000 Special Marshals respectively.

He explained that the corps had also deployed operational equipments which included 948 vehicles in the category of 656 patrol vehicles, 113 ambulances, 156 admin vehicles, 23 tow trucks and 204 bikes for metropolitan bike patrol.

Other equipments, according to him, were radar guns, breathalyzers to put a check on drunk driving, and other operational logistics materials.

The corps would also make ensure that “Zebras” are active throughout the operation for prompt rescue operations and be responsive to calls within the minimum FRSC response time to crashes reported.

The corps said it would work hand in hand with the military; police; the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps; Department of State Service, DSS; state owned/NGO’s ambulance service providers; National Network on Emergency Rescue Services (NNERS) and Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).

FRSC called on motorists to be patient on the road and ensure that they operate within the ambit of the law as the corps would be out to ensure compliance of established traffic laws.
