Twenty seven out of the 32 lawmakers of Rivers State House of Assembly have defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The defectors cited division in the PDP as the reason for crossing to the APC.

Speaking after reading the letters signed by the defected lawmakers, the Speaker of the House, Mr. Martins Amaewhule directed the Clerk of the House to convey their resolution to the governor, Mr Siminialayi Fubara, and relevant authorities.

According to him, the decision of the 27 lawmakers was borne out of the desire to serve the state better.
