Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has praised traditional rulers for their roles in the establishment of lasting peace in the state.

The governor gave the praise when Justice Francis Tabai, Esuku I, Ebenanaowei of Tuomo Kingdom, paid him a Thank-You-Visit in Asaba.

Okowa said that the roles of the traditional rulers could not be taken for granted as they were the pillar that held the communities together, adding that the people of Tuomo Kingdom had been without one for far too long.

“Delta State is one of the most peaceful states at the moment and it is due to the collaboration and cooperation we in government have had with the traditional rulers. I must publicly acknowledge the roles that our traditional rulers are playing in helping us to maintain peace in the state which has led to the improvement of our economy,” the governor said.

The governor congratulated Justice Frances Tabai for the successful and peaceful ascension on November 10th, 2018 explaining that the community needed the guidance of a knowledgeable and reputable personality who would lead with care and transparency.

“We know that for a long time the kingdom of Tuomo has been without a king and I want to appreciate top leaders and people of the kingdom for enabling the office to be given to someone who is very highly praised, Giving the position to someone who is knowledgeable about the responsibilities as well as the kingdom will take a lot of pressure from us in government because you understand the kingdom and the state” he said.

The governor added: “With the level of exposure and knowledge that you have it is my belief that you will rule well and I can assure you of government’s support to bring more development to the kingdom.”

Speaking briefly Justice Frances Tabai thanked Governor Okowa for the support that was received at the time of his coronation and gave assurance to serve with integrity as well as collaborate with the state government to bring development to the kingdom and the state in general.
