The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called on Nigerians to hold the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Government responsible for any breakdown of law and order in Kwara State.

The leading opposition party gave the warning ahead of the House of Representatives bye election in Irepodun-Isin-Oke-Ero-Ekiti Federal Constituency of Kwara State scheduled for Saturday.

According to a statement issued by PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, on Thursday, the warning was against the backdrop of alleged plot by the All Progressives Congress, APC, to rig the election.

It claimed that some materials were “smuggled” in sacks of INEC sensitive materials to the APC.

The PDP said it had full details of the INEC agents and the movement of the materials.

The PDP therefore called on INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to immediately give account of all the sensitive materials for the election, saying that the people of Kwara State insisted on the release of all materials only in the full glare of stakeholders.

“Already, this act has triggered tension in the area and we invite all Nigerians to hold INEC, the police, the Buhari Presidency and APC responsible, should there be any breakdown of law and order in the area before, during and after the election,” the party stated.
