Security operatives have rescued eight persons abducted around Millennium City and Maraban Rido in Kaduna.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Rabiu Muhammad, disclosed this at a news conference at the Department of State Services, DSS, Command Headquarters on Tuesday in Kaduna.

Muhammad said the victims were rescued between October 31 and November 2 through coordinated operations involving the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, DSS, Nigeria Police Force and the military, with support from the Kaduna State government.

The rescued victims are Jamila Muhammad, 27; Talatu Yakubu, 40; Yunana Bawa, 30; Calista Bishop, 27; Chidinma Onuwere, 36; Eucharia Obi, 41; Godiya Victor, 50; and Miracle Alex, 8.

He said the operation was part of sustained efforts by security agencies to disrupt and dismantle criminal networks responsible for recurring kidnappings in Millennium City and its environs.

The commissioner recalled that security agencies had earlier rescued Ahmad Zakka and members of his family on October 15, following their abduction from Millennium City.

He said the successive breakthroughs demonstrated the commitment of security agencies to rescuing abducted persons and dismantling kidnapping networks across the state.

Muhammad acknowledged the strategic coordination provided by ONSA, intelligence support from the DSS, operational contributions of the police and the involvement of the military.

He also commended the Kaduna State government, led by Governor Uba Sani, for its support towards the operations.

The commissioner said the successes reflected President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to addressing security challenges across the country.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with credible and actionable information on suspected kidnappers and bandits.

Muhammad assured residents that information provided would be treated confidentially.

He also called on traditional rulers and community leaders to support security agencies in the fight against kidnapping and other criminal activities.

The commissioner urged media organisations to uphold responsible journalism by avoiding the publication of unverified information capable of undermining security operations or creating unnecessary panic.
