President Bola Tinubu, has approved the extension of the tenure of the Comptoller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Kemi Nandap, to June 30th 2028.
He also extended the tenure of the Controller-General of the Nigeria Correctional Service, NCos, Sylvester Nwakuche, to May 2028.
The extension was announced in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, on Monday in Abuja.
President Tinubu nominated Kemi Nandap as the Comptroller-General of the NIS on February 21, 2024 and the Senate confirmed the appointment on March 1, 2024.
According to Onanuga, the approval followed a recommendation by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to address the succession gap in both services and allow the board enough time to appoint successors.
Onanuga quoted President Tinubu as commending Nandap and Nwakuche for the reforms achieved under their leadership and charged them to consolidate the gains.
