The Eagle Online newspaper will continue to publish despite the demise of its founder, Mr. Dotun Oladipo.
Oladipo passed on on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, shortly after falling ill in his office.
In a statement by the widow, Mrs. Taiwo Oladipo, on behalf of the family, on Tuesday, the Oladipos said following the business continuity plan put in place by the founder of The Eagle Online, the publication will continue.
The family said the plan had been activated and was being refined to sustain the newspaper.
Said the family: “In line with best practices, Dotun had foresight to have put in place some form of a business continuity plan. That plan has now been activated and is being refined to sustain the publication in line with his vision.”
The family noted that Dotun devoted a significant part of his life to journalism, establishing The Eagle Online in 2012 and building it into a respected digital news publication with a loyal readership, strong name recognition and the confidence of a wide range of advertisers and partners.
The family added that Oladipo was deeply passionate about The Eagle Online and regarded it not merely as a business, but as a platform for responsible journalism and public service.
“It is therefore important for us, at this difficult moment, to reassure the numerous readers, advertisers, partners and friends of The Eagle Online that the publication will continue.
“In line with best practices, Dotun had foresight to have put in place some form of a business continuity plan. That plan has now been activated and is being refined to sustain the publication in line with his vision,” the family announced.
“We recognise that many people have invested their trust in The Eagle Online over the years. We do not take that trust for granted. Our intention is to preserve the legacy Dotun worked so hard to build while ensuring that the publication continues to grow and serve its readers effectively.
“We also wish to assure our advertisers and commercial partners that existing relationships and commitments remain important to us. We look forward to your continued confidence and support as we navigate this transition,” the family stated further.
The family expressed its profound appreciation to the many readers, colleagues, friends, advertisers, partners and well-wishers of The Eagle Online who had reached out to it following the death of Oladipo.
“His death on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 came as a devastating shock to us and everyone who knew him. We are still coming to terms with the enormity of our loss,” the family said.
“As our family continues to mourn this loss, we ask for your continued prayers, understanding and support.
“We thank everyone who has stood with the Oladipo Family and The Eagle Online since Dotun’s passing.
“Dotun may have left us, but the work to which he devoted so much of his life will continue.
“The Eagle Online will continue to fly,” the family concluded.
