The Nigerian Army troops have rescued 14 kidnap victims during an operation against terrorists in Magazu Village, Tsafe local government area of Zamfara.

This is contained in an operational update made available on Wednesday in Abuja.

The report said the operation followed information received by troops of 1 Brigade at Forward Operating Base Tsafe on terrorist activities around the community on August 25.

It said the troops mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abort their mission and flee into the surrounding bush.

According to the report, troops subsequently combed the area and rescued 14 victims from the terrorists’ captivity.

“One of the rescued victims sustained a gunshot wound during the incident and was evacuated to a hospital in Tsafe for medical attention.

“The rescue highlights the ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to deny terrorists freedom of action and protect civilians across the North-West,” the report stated.
