“President Tinubu is not tired,” the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared.

Yilwatda made the declaration in reaction to the call by the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for Tinubu to step aside as he (the president) was tired.

Obi, who made the call during an interview on Channels Television said Tinubu should step aside ahead of the 2027 general election because he lacked the energy to continue to lead Nigeria.

But Yilwatda, speaking on Tuesday when he appeared on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, queried Obi’s position that Tinubu was tired of being at the helm of affairs in the country.

The APC chairman asserted that Tinubu had continued to work tirelessly, and had been delivering key projects.

His words: “Let me put it this way, especially to Obi, who claimed that Tinubu is tired. Is he (Tinubu) going for boxing or 400 metres? Are you telling me that the President who stays and works from morning till night is tired? These are the issues we are talking about.”

He added: “Are you telling me that over a million students and mothers who depend heavily on and celebrate NELFUND would be praying that the president be retired?”

Yilwatda listed some of the key projects of the Tinubu government, emphasising the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway among others.

Said he: “Are you telling me that people who have the coastal road from Lagos to Calabar, to Akwa Ibom and Port Harcourt, or the five seaports in Calabar, Akwa Ibom, Port Harcourt, Ondo and Lagos, are those who wish that the president be retired?”

He added: “I am sure you watched the renewal of airports being upgraded by the Minister of Aviation. This and many others, even in the North.”
