The African Democratic Congress, ADC, loyal to the Sen. David Mark-led national leadership on Saturday elected a new executive committee in Anambra.

The congress which was conducted through a consensus produced Mr. Christopher Nwosu as chairman and Chigbo Enwezo as Secretary .

Mr Timothy Egboka and Benchucks Nwosu moved and seconded the motion for the adoption of the consensus method at the congress .

The congress also ratified all the congresses earlier conducted as well as dissolved all executive committees at the local government, ward and polling unit levels through two separate motions which were duly seconded.

Chief Lawrence Ezeudu and Onyebuchi Offor moved and seconded the motion for ratification of congresses held in the wards and local government areas.

The motion for the dissolution of all existing executive committees in Anambra at the State, LGA, Ward and Polling Unit levels was moved and seconded by Mr Vincent Ofumelu and Mr Chudi Orizu respectively.

Amb. Fidel Ayogu, the chairman of the congress committee, said the consensus method was in line with the constitution of the party and also a good way to make up for the challenges of direct congress.

Ayogu said the ADC remained the most viable party in spite of the challenges and urged the faithful to remain resilient and positive.

He said the congress was in accordance with the directive of the Mark-led National Working Committee with Mr Peter Obi as leader in Anambra.

“Anambra is a strong base of ADC, not because of Peter Obi but because we have two distinguished Senators, members of House of Representatives and House of Assembly from here.

“By virtue of the power vested in me as the chairman of ADC congress committee in Anambra and by the Congress conducted through consensus, I present you as the new leadership of the party in Anambra,” he said.
