Plateau State government has relaxed the 48-hour curfew earlier imposed on Jos North local government area.
The Commissioner for Information and Communications of the state, Mrs Joyce Ramnap, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Jos.
The government had earlier imposed the curfew, following an attack on Angwan-Rukuba, a community in Jos North local government area.
Gunmen had on Sunday night attacked the community, killed many persons, and left others injured.
Ramnap said the curfew had been relaxed with effect from April 1, adding that residents could go about their normal businesses between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
“Residents are hereby free to carry out their lawful activities, within the stipulated hours.
”Government urges citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding as security agencies continue to monitor the situation to ensure sustained peace and order,” Ramnap said.
The commissioner thanked members of the public for their cooperation and support during the trying time.
She reiterated the government’s commitment to the protection of lives and property in all parts of the state.
