BREAKING: Veteran journalist, Olufemi Odugbose, is dead

Veteran journalist, publisher and author, Mr. Olufemi Odugbose, is dead.

A source close to the family disclosed to FrontPage that Odugbose died this morning and that his remains would be interred on Saturday at his Ago Iwoye residence in Ogun State.

Born of a very humble background, he was described as a product of self-education who, in spite of all odds, plotted his way to the top of his career, journalism.

He was one of the pioneer graduates of Mass Communication of Ogun State Polytechnic (now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic), Abeokuta, Ogun State.

He also attended the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos, for his post graduate diploma, where he was also one of the pioneer graduates.

He started his career as a journalist in the Nigerian Tribune after which he had a stint at Sunday Stamp.

Sunday Stamp was a weekly tabloid published by veteran journalist and writer, Chief Tola Adeniyi.

He also worked with Naked World, a newspaper published in the early 1980s.

Odugbose worked in The Punch as sub-editor for many years and rose to the post of the Deputy Chief Sub-Editor before he resigned in 1999 and co-founded Treasure Weekly in Abeokuta in 1999.

A principled journalist, dedicated page-planner, he was a private secretary to the first civilian governor of Ogun State, the late Chief Bisi Onabanjo.

He is the author of the book, Olabisi Onabanjo: Footprints of a Patriot

Odugbose is survived by his wife, four children and many grandchildren.
