The 24 girls abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu local government area of Kebbi State have regained their freedom.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, made this known in a statement on his Facebook wall on Tuesday.

He said President Bola Tinubu welcome the release of the girls, just as he thanked security agents for their efforts.

He was said to have also called on security agents to put in more efforts to ensure the release of other students in captivity.

The post reads in part: “President Tinubu applauded the security agents for all the efforts made to secure freedom for all the victims taken away by the terrorists.

“He tasked the security agents to make more efforts to rescue the remaining students still being held captive.”

He quoted the president as saying: “I am relieved that all the 24 girls have been accounted for. Now, we must put as a matter of urgency more boots on the ground in the vulnerable areas to avert further incidents of kidnapping. My government will offer all the assistance needed to achieve this.”

It would be recalled that the 38 worshippers kidnapped in the attack on a church in Eruku in Kwara State, recently, have also regained their freedom.

Students kidnapped in a Catholic school in Niger State are yet to regain their freedom.
