The Plateau Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, has directed the immediate closure of all primary and junior secondary schools in the state.

Mr Richard Jonah, the Public Relations Officer, PRO, of the board disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Jos.

He explained that the decision underscored the urgent need for preventive action and to safeguard lives and property in the state.

“All Government Junior Model Secondary Schools (GJMSSs) will close effective Saturday, Nov. 22, while Primary and Day Schools will close effective Monday, Nov. 24,” he said.

The PRO assured parents, guardians and stakeholders that the closure was a temporary but necessary step to forestall potential security threats.

He added that the move aimed at reassuring communities that the government was prioritising the wellbeing of its students.

Jonah said that management of the board advised all Local Government Education Authorities, school administrators and community leaders to cooperate fully with the directive and be vigilant.
