MAPOLY pays tribute as second rector, Oba Adebayo, passes on

Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta  has commiserated with the family of the former Rector of the Polytechnic, Oba (Dr.) Adebisi Atanda Adebayo, the Olu of Orile Itori-Odo, who joined his ancestors at the age of 87.

The message of condolence by the management is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the institution’s Head, Public Relations & Protocol, Mr. ‘Yemi Ajibola.

Oba Adebisi was the second rector of the polytechnic – 1st of May, 1984 to 30th April, 1992 – with indelible developmental legacies.

He joined the service of the Polytechnic as a Senior Principal (now Chief Lecturer) at Oke-Egunya, the initial site of Ogun State Polytechnic, where he was appointed Head, Department of Biology.

His tenure as the Rector secured NBTE Accreditation for ND Accountancy, ND & HND Business Administration & Management, ND & HND Marketing, ND Secretarial Administration, ND & HND Architectural Technology, Town & Regional Planning, ND Food Technology, ND Science Laboratory Technology, and ND & HND Mass Communication.

Similarly, his administration witnessed the red-bricks evolution in the physical development, which includes the Adebisi Adebayo Administrative Building.

Adebayo was a well-travelled scientist and author of numerous scientific publications in local and international books and journals, including seminar and conference papers.

The Rector, Arc. Dr. ‘Koye Jolaoso, on behalf of the polytechnic community, prayed for the fortitude to bear his absence.

He also prayed God to “illuminate Oba Dr. Adebisi Adebayo’s final abode and accept his return.”
