The Society for Peace Studies and Practice, SPSP, has applauded Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State over several initiatives of his administration for the promotion of peace.
The Lagos State branch of the society gave the commendation on the occasion of the World Peace Day in a statement issued by its chairman, Richard Adeyinka Emmanuel, and secretary, Dr. Hassan Biodun Suleiman.
The SPSP acknowledged the efforts of the government of Governor Sanwo-Olu to improve state peace listing some of the initiatives which it described as commendable.
Listing some of the initiative of the government, the society said: “In order to increase the Nigeria Police Force’s effectiveness in fighting crime and safeguarding the lives and property of all Lagos residents, Governor Sanwo-Olu has equipped the force with 260 vehicles and other security equipment, including bulletproof jackets, body-worn cameras, and helmets, within the past year.
“To combat crime in the state’s troubled areas, especially Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Lekki, the state government hired 1,000 policemen for the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps to beef up security intelligence for prompt action. The criminal justice system restructured for efficiency through the introduction of technology with the Lagos Criminal Information System (LCIS).”
